DNase I protection experiments were conducted to establish the precise location of cAMP-CRP binding to the regulatory region of the ogl gene. A single protected region was obtained. This region contained cAMP-CRP binding site centred at position -98.5 with respect to the ogl transcription start site (P1) and -41.5 for ogl P2. For the ogl promoter, the KdgR-protected region was obtained to overlap the cAMP-CRP binding site.
